Video monitors give you a large, clear display of your footage while recording. These can slo display extra shooting information that may not be available in camera such as zebra stripes for highlight clipping alerts or to accurately reveal areas in focus during focus pulls. Some of the monitors double up as external recorders and can record in codecs unavailable in-camera.
