In creating the Canon EF 300mm f/2.8 IS II USM, Canon managed to make the lens both lighter and faster than its predecessor, with improved image stabilisation and better optics. Fluorite elements have been incorporated for better image quality, and Canon has added several advanced coatings to bring ghosting, flaring and smearing down to an absolute minimum.
The image stabilisation system on board provides up to four stops of compensation, and can also be set to only activate when the shutter button is fully pressed. The EF 300 f/2.8 IS II USM is made with action shooting in mind, designed for easy panning and keeping up with fast-moving subjects.
