The RF 100-500mm F4.5-7.1L IS USM is a flexible super telephoto zoom that will capture stunning sports and wildlife images of the highest quality. With a 100-500mm focal length range, plus 5-stop image stabilisation and L-series build quality, the RF 100-500mm F4.5-7.1L IS USM offers performance and image quality like no other thanks to UD lens elements and ASC coatings for unrivalled contrast and sharpness. With the RF 1.4x and 2.0x extenders this lens makes a compact travel telephoto kit.

Canon L-series lenses are built to Canon's highest standards. The lens construction is robust and reliable. The optical elements include six UD (ultra-low dispersion) elements, one Super UD lens, and ASC (Air Sphere) optical coatings for unrivalled contrast and sharpness. The lens is sealed against dust and water to withstand heavy use.

The five stop IS system will help you create crisp images throughout the lens range, to the full extension of 500mm and further with optical extenders. When combined with the EOS R5 and EOS R6 bodies with new IBIS systems, greater levels of stability are possible. Canon have stated that this lens surpasses the best technology in the EF (DSLR) lens range.

The Canon RF 100-500mm f4.5-7.1L IS USM lens has two Nano USM focus motors. The dual motor system allowed the lens designers to develop a more compact lens with fast focus and improved close focusing. The Nano USM motors are very precise for excellent locking and tracking focus for stills and video. Two focus motors are used to operate a floating lens group independent to the the main focusing elements. Floating lens groups are used to correct aberrations caused when elements are moved far apart, sometimes they have to move counter to other optics making for a more complex, but more compact and sharper lens.
