The lens’s electromagnetic diaphragm is able to sync with the camera shutter for consistent exposures during burst shooting, while the Silent Wave Motor (SWM) powers fast, accurate focusing.
Image stabilisation has been upgraded to four stops of compensation, and all the moveable parts of the lens barrel have been weather-sealed for protection. The front element is also coated with Nikon’s non-stick fluorine coat, repelling dirt, dust, fingerprints and smudges.
