This lens brings top-notch optical quality to DX-format. Its useful zoom range covers ultra-wide angle to mid-telephoto, providing the user with solid all-purpose coverage that’s great for travel and street shooting. It also employs Nano Crystal Coat for superior light transmission and has Electromagnetic Diaphragm Mechanism that gives it stable auto-exposure controls. Many of these features were never seen on DX-format optics prior to the introduction of this lens.
Weighing just 480g, this is the ideal lens to throw into a bag for some travel shooting. Its Fluorine coat will repel water, dust and smudges, and its minimum focusing distance of 0.35m means it’s as comfortable close up as it is at a distance. The interior construction is sophisticated too, with four Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glass elements and three aspherical lens elements to ensure images that are sharp from edge to edge.
